Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Engineering to lead our engineering department. Reporting directly to the CTO, this role is pivotal in driving technological innovation and overseeing the development and deployment of our company’s products and services. This position involves hands-on coding and development work, especially in the initial stages of our team's growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small but growing team of software engineers and IT professionals.
• Actively participate in hands-on software development, especially in the early stages of projects.
• Balance time between coding, architectural decisions, and team management.
• Promote a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and innovation.
• Conduct performance reviews, set objectives, and facilitate career growth.
• Work closely with the CTO to develop and implement strategic plans for the engineering department.
• Ensure timely delivery of projects within budget and scope.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to other engineers on the team.
• Onboard and train new engineering team members.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Guide the adoption of new technologies and best practices.
• Uphold and enhance the quality standards of the company’s products and services.
• Work with the product team to understand customer needs and incorporate feedback into development.
• Uphold high-quality standards in both team output and personal code contributions.
• Implement and oversee quality assurance protocols, including code reviews and testing.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development/engineering, with a track record of hands-on coding.
• Experience in leading small to medium-sized engineering teams, with a willingness to be deeply involved in code development.
• Strong project management, organizational, and technical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Experience working in a remote environment is a plus.
