ABOUT THE ROLE

As the programming specialist, you are the master of our online events, curating experiences for a rapidly growing community of over 75,000 people across the African continent. You'll craft and run exciting events for each of our customer segments, mostly online, that'll make everyone who misses out suffer from serious FOMO.

More specifically you will:

  • Create and implement a top-tier immersive programming strategy that caters to the needs and interests of our community members, aiming to propel their career advancement to new heights.
  • Lead on the execution of a programming calendar, spearheading everything from workshops and webinars to hackathons and networking sessions, from inception to flawless execution.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with industry leaders, tech organizations, and influencers to enhance the value proposition of community events.
  • Host events, interview speakers and be the face of our online events.
  • Contribute to building a sticky community by taking ownership of community engagement metrics such as event attendance, CSAT, NPS, and Churn Rate, all aimed at scaling up engagement within the ALX Fellowship community.
  • Establish systems and foster a culture where community members can host their own events, transforming our community into a member-led network of like-minded individuals committed to leveraging technology for global change.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure programming initiatives are aligned with broader community goals and organizational objectives.
  • Harness diverse communication channels to keep our Fellows informed and engaged, cultivating a dynamic and supportive digital ecosystem pulsating with energy and excitement.
  • Implement strong tracking mechanisms to capture vital metrics on community engagement, satisfaction, and outcomes. Utilize data-driven insights to continually enhance the quality and impact of programming events.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 3-4 years event hosting experience, specializing in tech programming.
  • Successful track record managing and expanding tech-focused communities.
  • Expertise in organizing diverse programming format: workshops, career-fairs, webinars, fireside chats, hackathons, networking sessions.
  • Skilled in event production for digital and physical formats, with a focus on immersive technologies.
  • Exceptional project management skills and ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Strong ability to forge strategic partnerships with industry leaders, tech organizations, and influencers.
  • Proficient management of high-profile speakers and teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and logistical excellence.
  • Capacity to innovate programming strategies based on evolving community dynamics and industry trends.
  • Genuine passion for technology, dedicated to nurturing emerging tech talent.
  • Strong writing skills and adept at engaging Fellows through various communication channels.
  • Adaptable to fast-paced environments, embracing new challenges with a positive attitude.
