Research and Development Manager

Description

We are looking for R&D Manager who has experience in the identity management Industry to Manage all research activities for Passport and ID business unit products to ensure continuous and innovative enhancement and development of best in class printers and technology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:-

• Manage all department staff in performing their delegated tasks
• Ensure that all department staff acquires required skillsets, knowledge and certifications through appropriate training and professional development programs (in coordination with the Human Capital and Administration Division).
• Periodically appraise the staff. Coach and counsel them as required. Encourage good communication among all levels of staff.
• Prepare periodic performance reports for the department and provide inputs to the business unit’s performance report.
• Provide inputs for the division’s plans and operational budget.
• Ensure that the division’s policies are developed and periodically reviewed, procedures for various functions are documented and implementation of these policies and procedures is monitored.
• Ensure compliance with all legal, contractual, audit, regulatory, risk management and safety requirements and procedures, especially in respect of IP confidentiality and related risks.
• Maintain efficiency and cost effectiveness of all processes by ensuring that all the technology needs of the business unit are addressed (in coordination with Corporate IT).
• Work with Product Managers to develop new innovative features and add-ons to maintain competitive technology for existing hardware and software solutions and maintain market leadership.
• Lead R&D effort for developing new cutting edge products that would help position GET Passport and ID business unit as the leader in next generation technology within the industry.
• Provide input to the gathering of market intelligence, development order, external developers agreement and IP protection and monitoring.
• Conduct testing on hardware and materials (inks, laminates, card substrates, paper, etc.) for GET’s line of products.
• Manage and coordinate brainstorming sessions with Product Managers and product manufacturers to generate innovative ideas for product enhancements and new product developments.
• Develop prototypes for product enhancements and for new technology based on input from Product Managers and based on ideas generated through research and brainstorming sessions.
• Liaise with developers (internal or external) during prototype development. Ensure project/service is implemented following GET standards and quality management system.
• Identify and document all GET IP related to Passport and ID that warrants IP protection.
• Keep abreast of the latest industry technology solutions, technology best practices and evolution of technologies/standards of passport and ID printers.
• Gear a portion of research efforts towards the uncovering of future technology trends within the industry, with the five year industrial strategy in mind, and offer recommendations to the Director of Product Development and Marketing.
• Perform any other related job duties as requested by direct supervisor.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Ten (10) years of relevant experience in ID Management Industry and Perso Printer.
